Welcome to my blog!
Dear friends, as-salam alaykum,
I want to start by sharing a little bit about why I’m launching my a blog, dedicated to essays, reflections, and engaged discussions about the past, present, and future of Islamic tradition and communal life.
Last year I made an important decision. After years of keeping my community engagement offline and working through other institutions while I focused primarily on my academic career, I decided to launch my website dedicated to expanding my work in public education, training, and research.
This blog is at the heart of the new phase of my work. It’s where I’ll share my learnings as they evolve, personal reflections from my work, reflections on the experiences of research, teaching, and facilitating trainings as it unfolds, and of course, a sprinkling of the quotidian daily happenings of life.
It’s also where I hope to build community and engage in meaningful discussions with like-minded women and men. The online Muslim-verse doesn’t feel like a space to have productive and meaningful exchanges about the issues that concern me most. That’s why I’ve kept my engagement offline until now.
My blog is my attempt to create a brave space for exchange, for sustained dialogue and debate of critical issues as a channel towards co-constructing solutions to shared challenges and to cultivating a meaningful God-centered spiritual and communal life.
If you’d like to receive new essays published on my blog, subscribe to my newsletter.
In addition to my essays, my newsletter will also be used to announce new courses and in-person programming that I’m offering, and my debriefs from those engagements.
If you've already subscribed, thank you! I appreciate your support. Please invite your friends to subscribe too. It's also the single most important thing you can do to support my work.
Sincerely,
Mariam Sheibani
